Shawn Dykes 03/21/2017 01:16:29 PM Just a heads up I tried and was able to sign up for Informed Delivery in my rural zip code so I am sure others should be able to as well. It is interesting to see the scanned mail that has been delivered in the past week and will be delivered today. I am trying to wrap my head around how I can sell the online ad’s aspect of it to my customers. https://informeddelivery.usps.com
Shawn Dykes 03/21/2017 01:20:24 PM Just found this, it is not nationwide yet. Where is Informed Delivery currently offered? Informed Delivery is currently available in areas of California, Connecticut, Maryland, New York, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The feature will be rolled out nationwide in 2017. You can use the ZIP Code lookup tool to see if Informed Delivery is offered in your area.
Tom Glassman 03/21/2017 01:21:36 PM Hi Shawn, Down here at Wilen we are actually doing Informed Delivery campaigns. This is where we are packing a replacement URL for the grey scale picture and an additional URL for a link to click on when you open the color picture. We are having internal debates within the office as to whether the digital image adds to the open rate or causes a decline in the open rates. I personally believe that adding the digital image of the outside of the mail piece helps open rates and is a great example of integration of digital and mail. See you at NPF.
Shawn Dykes 03/21/2017 06:14:03 PM Tom, can you take a screenshot of what the customer will see in the IV portal?
Shawn Dykes 04/21/2017 04:51:40 PM Where do I signup to start learning about how to inject ads in Informed Delivery?
Tom Glassman 04/21/2017 05:10:49 PM Hi Shawn, I have been on Informed Delivery for a while and love it. I have two stories on how its helped. Selling it is easy, you are combining digital with the mail moment. This could yield to a higher open rate and additional sales. Wilen was the first company to use a mail.dat file for submission to the Informed Delivery office. Its a bit complicated and mail.dat 17.2 is changing the method of submission by adding a campaign file and additional info in the RMR file. Steve C up at Calmark has been testing an Informed Delivery Portal, instead of the mail.dat submission. I have a slide show I developed for NPF on how to use the mail.dat for an ID submission which I am willing to share with you. Shawn, if you need help just call my cell at 509-590-5035 or the office at 954-949-6316. See you at NPF
Kristen McKiernan 04/21/2017 06:06:22 PM Tom, As a software provider, we will be adding the capability to create the Mail.dat Referenceable Mail Record (RMR) so our customers can submit the campaign data elements as part of the Mail.dat files. It is my understanding that the Mail.dat files must be submitted electronically at least two business days prior to the requested start date. If you could share with me the slideshow you developed for NPF on how to use the mail.dat for an ID submission, I’d be grateful. You can email it to me to [email protected] or FTP it here: https://accuzip.sharefile.com/r-re3ae70f36eb4bc2b. Thank you Tom for sharing your wealth of knowledge from the multiple perspectives of the industry.
